The Heart of the City
This walk takes us into the heart of the City of London where 2000 years of history mingles with 21st century architecture. On the way we will learn about history of the medieval Livery Companies, pass some wonderful Wren churches and see some of the City’s beautiful gardens. Passing the Old Bailey, you can find out why the judges wore nosegays, where body snatchers preyed, and how a Victorian artist honored our unsung heroes. We will see the historic Guildhall, and learn about the history of the Bow Bells. Finally our walk will end at the Bank Junction where we see Mansion House, the home of the Lord Mayor of London, the Bank of England and Royal Exchange.
