Shakespeare’s first years in London

Shakespeare’s first years in London

Discover the sites of London's earliest purpose-built theatres where Will and friends earned their writing and acting spurs. Shakespeare's early career started in Shoreditch - a village, then outside the City walls, and a notorious entertainment district. The walk also visits the places that Shakespeare is said to have lived, and other locations associated with Shakespeare’s contemporaries and Elizabethan theatre, before ending at London Bridge - in sight of Southwark Cathedral and Bankside. This walk takes between an hour and a half and two hours to complete. Book this walk
