Finding Fossils in the City
On this walk Jenni will show you fossils in the building and paving stones of our City, including nautiloid creatures over 480 million years old and ammonites and belemnites over 150 million years old. The walk will take you through back streets and alleyways and will look at the different building materials that have been used over the last 2000 years. Fossil-rich stones which were once despised by architects are now highly prized, and once Jenni has pointed some out, you’ll start seeing them everywhere! The walk will finish at Fenchurch Street.
