Dickens in The City of London
Celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens with a walk through the streets and alleys of London. Let us take you on a journey to discover the city that inspired his writings and created his characters. Dickens’ own childhood experiences in London such as working as a child labourer, visiting his father in the Marshallsea Gaol and working as a clerk coloured the pages of his novels.
This walk takes a trip through the heart of the City of London to see the corners, alleyways and buildings which inspired scenes in Pickwick Papers, Christmas Carol and Great Expectations.
