Octavia Hill in Marylebone

Octavia Hill in Marylebone

Anti-social behaviour, binge drinking, debt, poverty and a lack of good affordable housing are headaches for to-day’s policy makers, but the Victorian social reformer Octavia Hill was grappling with the same issues nearly 150 years ago. She set about tackling these problems with tenacity and vision, befriending working people and mobilizing the middle classes to provide both money and volunteers. In this year of the centenary of her death, WLWU are pleased to offer the Octavia Hill Marylebone Walk. You will visit the places where she lived and worked and see some monuments to her legacy. The walk is approx 90 minuets long it starts at Baker Street tube and finishes at Edgware tube.
